Mikaela Pace - Biography
Mikaela Pace is a Native American soprano whose work spans opera, musical theatre, new music, and cross-genre performance. Born and raised in Carrollton, TX and now based in Austin, she is known for her dynamic stage presence, clear lyric sound, and artistic versatility.

Her operatic roles include Suor Osmina in Puccini’s Suor Angelica (Atchley Opera), Tonina in Scarlatti’s Prima la musica e poi le parole, Lady Ella in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Patience (Baylor Opera Theatre), Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro (Matador Opera Workshop), Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Laurie Moss in Copland’s The Tender Land (Baylor Opera Theatre), Rose Maurant in Weill’s Street Scene, Contemptus Mundi in Hildegard’s Ordo Virtutum, Second Woman in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Mrs. Gobineau in Menotti’s The Medium (Texas Tech Opera Theatre), and covering Kate in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Yeomen of the Guard (G&S Austin).

A passionate musical theatre artist, Mikaela has performed Lily in The Secret Garden (Georgetown Palace Theatre), Sister in Damn Yankees (Entr’acte), Ghost of Christmas Past in A Christmas Carol (Georgetown Palace Theatre), Maria in West Side Story (Wild Imaginings), and Margo Crawford in Bright Star (Waco Civic Theatre), among others. She has appeared in numerous ensemble productions and Sondheim, Disney, and Golden Age works.
Mikaela is also active in new music and contemporary opera. She recently portrayed Daisy in The Butterfly (Keith Allegretti & Amy Herman) premiering at the 2025 Here Be Monsters Festival, the Maid in a workshop of Stop Hitting Yourself (Peter Stopschinski), performed soprano chorus in Un Cuento de Luces y Sombras (Carlos Alberto Cordero), and appeared in An Artist’s Regrets by Nell Clowder and Linda Nenno. She also performed as the featured Native American soprano in Austin Chamber Ensemble’s Concert Celebrating Native American Heritage Month.

Her competition successes include being named a 2025 Gilbert & Sullivan Austin Libby Weed Scholarship recipient, the 1st-place winner in Opera Division II at the 2023 Robert Hansen Collegiate Opera Scenes Competition, a semifinalist in the 2022 American Pops Orchestra Next Gen Competition, and a finalist in both divisions of the 2021 John Alexander Vocal Competition.
Mikaela holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Baylor University and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Texas Tech University. Alongside performing, she maintains a thriving private voice studio of more than 40 students and is an in-demand performer in concerts, theatre productions, and church music across Central Texas.
